ARE THERE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH TATTERED ATLAS SERVICES?

Tattered Atlas charges a Trip Design and Research Fee starting at $485 for custom travel planning services and $250 for personalized cruise, tour, and resort trips, ensuring a dedicated and tailored approach to curating your unforgettable journey. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO COMMUNICATE WITH TATTERED ATLAS?

For seamless communication, we recommend email correspondence during the planning phase. This allows us to document all discussions efficiently, and you can expect a response within two business days. If you prefer a phone call, you can schedule it through the Tattered Atlas calendar. While traveling, we will be accessible as much as possible, however differences in time zones may impact response times.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I START THE TRIP PLANNING PROCESS?

CAN I REQUEST CHANGES TO THE PROPOSED ITINERARY?

Absolutely! At Tattered Atlas, once we agree on the initial parameters of your trip, we craft a starting proposal to set us on the right path. This proposal is a flexible blueprint that evolves as we fine-tune it together to perfectly suit your unique travel style.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO
PLAN A TRIP?

Here's a breakdown of our trip planning timeline:

  1. Initial Call Setup:

    • We kick things off by scheduling a call to get to know you, whether you're traveling with family, friends, or a partner.

  2. Exploring Your Preferences:

    • During the call, we'll dive into your interests, travel style, and engage in discussions about your chosen destination.

  3. Tailor-Made Itinerary Creation:

    • Following our conversation, we swiftly curate a personalized itinerary, ensuring it reflects your unique preferences. You can expect to receive it within two weeks.

  4. Fine-Tuning and Confirmation:

    • Your initial itinerary is just the beginning. Take your time to fine-tune the details, discuss with fellow travelers, and make any adjustments before confirming your plans.

 

While this process typically unfolds quickly, we understand that some needs may  warrant a bit more time to ensure every aspect aligns seamlessly with your expectations.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY TRIP?

To ensure a seamless and tailored travel experience, we require a minimum lead time of 2 months before your desired departure date. This allows us to meticulously curate your itinerary, considering your preferences and securing the best arrangements. However, the ideal time period is 6-12 months prior to departure, as this allows for greater flexibility, access to exclusive opportunities, and a more thorough exploration of custom options, ensuring your journey is nothing short of extraordinary.

WHAT IF I PLAN MY TRIP AND WANT TO START FROM SCRATCH?

We understand that travel plans may evolve. If you decide to change the direction of your trip, we can absolutely start fresh. However, it will require an additional trip planning fee.

Cancellation costs vary by supplier, and due to the highly customized nature of your vacation, we strongly recommend travel insurance. In the event of cancellation or postponement, having a policy in place can provide financial protection. If you desire a policy that includes the option to cancel for any reason, please let us know. Keep in mind that our Trip Design and Planning Fee is nonrefundable. Additionally, we charge a $50 cancellation fee.

WHY ISN'T MY TRIP ITINERARY ITEMIZED?

Tattered Atlas invoices each vacation itinerary as a comprehensive package, including all agreed-upon components. Supplier contracts often prohibit itemized pricing. If you wish to make amendments to your itinerary, we will reprice the total trip cost accordingly.

WHY IS TRAVEL INSURANCE INCLUDED IN THE TRIP PROPOSAL?

At Tattered Atlas, the wellbeing of our travelers is paramount, which is why we recommend travel insurance for every trip we curate. Travel insurance provides a safety net, offering financial protection and peace of mind in unforeseen circumstances such as trip cancellations, medical emergencies, or travel interruptions. Embracing the unexpected is part of the adventure, and insurance ensures you're covered for any twists along the way.

For those who choose to decline travel insurance, we kindly request a signed waiver acknowledging the decision. This waiver serves as a clear understanding of the potential risks involved, and it is a requisite for proceeding without coverage. Importantly, we want you to feel empowered in your choices. Even if you initially decline travel insurance, it can always be added at a later stage, allowing you to prioritize both flexibility and protection as your journey unfolds.

IS IT CHEAPER TO USE A TRAVEL AGENT THAN TO BOOK MYSELF?
